The Polisario Front’s «Health Minister» Jira Bulahi Bad announced, Thursday, that four coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the Tindouf camps.

«After a series of efforts and preventive measures to protect our people, today we unfortunately have to announce that the Tindouf camps has 4 coronavirus cases», she wrote on her Twitter account. «Our vulnerable situation forces us to redouble our efforts», she added.

According to the pro-Polisario platform Futuro-Sahara, «two of the four cases are asymptomatic, one has mild symptoms and the fourth one is in a critical condition». These four cases are spread over the «Smara, Dakhla, Chahid El Hafed and Boujdour camps», the same source wrote, quoting the «National Committee for the Prevention of the Coronavirus».

Last week, the movement reported that «four suspected cases of the coronavirus were detected in the Tindouf camps», without being confirmed.

«All necessary measures have been taken to avoid the spread of the virus. We urge all citizens to comply with the preventive measures set by the committee, especially as infections are on the rise in the neighboring countries», wrote the same source.

For the record, the Polisario Front has taken advantage of the global health crisis to target Morocco. The separatist movement accused Morocco of «exporting coronavirus cases to the Sahara». The same source also «warned against the increase of cases in prisons where Sahrawi detainees are held», sending letters with the same claims to the UN Security Council.
