Merchants in the Tindouf camps observed, Tuesday, a sit-in in front of the headquarters of the Front’s general secretariat in the Rabouni camp to protest against the closure of borders imposed by the Algerian authorities.

The Algerian authorities have implemented the measure since February 2019. The authorities in Algiers had ordered the Polisario's «Interior Ministry» to drastically reduce the number of exit permits granted to cars and trucks from the camps.

For the record, on April 27, 2019, the Polisario leadership used force to disperse a protest by Sahrawi merchants, deploying tanks and military vehicles.

Yesterday's sit-in took place peacefully. Senior Front officials were not present in the camps at the time of the protest.
