26 migrants rescued by the Moroccan authorities after their boat ship wrecked on Monday, have tested positive for the new coronavirus. They were found off the Tarfaya shore after they attempted to cross to the Canary Islands.
The regional director of the Moroccan Ministry of Health Ali El Houari confirmed the news to the Spanish news agency (EFE).
The Royal Gendarmerie had arrested the 40 migrants after their boat, which was carrying 60 people, wrecked.
For its part, the Spanish NGO Caminando Fronteras announced that 15 women and a baby were also among the 40 migrants while 13 people are missing.
