Morocco has been removed from the European Union’s safe list of countries from which the bloc allows non-essential travel. The decision was announced, Friday, after an EU ambassadors’ review of the list, Reuters reports.
The list includes only 10 countries with the new update, which takes effect on August 8. Algeria was removed from said list last week.
Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, and Uruguay are the only safe countries on the EU list.
Morocco has been removed from the list following a dramatic increase in the number of Covid-19 infections in the last couple of days. On Friday, the Kingdom recorded 1,018 coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 30,662.
