A 34-year-old Moroccan citizen was handed over to the Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) on Monday by the Spanish authorities under a European arrest warrant issued by the Gibraltar Supreme Court.

The Moroccan «has been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, in relation to the theft of 1.5 million euros in cash from a New Harbours warehouse in 2017», according to local newspaper GBC.

This arrest follows previous arrests of three other people accused of conspiracy to commit robbery.

The man had been wanted since October 2018, when a European arrest warrant was issued against him. Months later he was arrested in Spain, but remained in Spanish territory following legal proceedings.
