A number of players from the Ittihad Tanger team and members of its technical staff who tested positive for the coronavirus have infected their family members, local online newspaper Tanja 24 wrote on Wednesday, quoting well-informed sources.

«Because of the new treatment protocol imposed by the Ministry of Health, family members of these players have also felt symptoms similar to those associated with the new coronavirus, these patients are receiving treatment at home», the same source added.

The same source recalls that the protocol, recently approved by the ministry, forces asymptomatic patients or those having minor symptoms to self-isolate at home, «which exposes their families to the risk of contracting the virus».

On Sunday, the football club reported 24 confirmed coronavirus cases. This involves 16 players, the team coach, two members of the technical staff, one member of the medical staff, 3 members of the club management and one member in charge of the team's equipment.
