Eleven Moroccan migrants arrested in Portugal after escaping a detention center

Eleven Moroccan migrants who escaped a detention center in Portugal were arrested on Thursday, pending their deportation.

According to Portugal Resident, the men arrived in Algarve in June. They were obliged to spend 30 days in a detention center and decided to flee the facility to escape deportation.

«On July 4, three of them managed to escape, leaving the installations of the airport», the same source added. Other Moroccan migrants in the same center have «caused many problems», it added.

The men «attacked another foreign citizen who was also in detention». «The violence used by the group obliged the PSP to action its Intervention Corp which handcuffed the protestors», the same source added.

The arrestees will be appearing in court to heat the measure taken against them.
