A new field hospital for patients with the new coronavirus (Covid-19) has been created at the Ben Guerir military base, with a capacity of around 386 beds.
According to Alyaoum 24, who cites well-informed sources, this hospital will start receiving coronavirus cases by start of the week.
The decision to create this new hospital «comes to free the hospitals of Marrakech, especially as the number of infections in the Marrakech-Safi region, is on the rise», the same source added.
This hospital is in addition to the first facility, created and opened in June in the same military base when it was decided to bring all positive and active cases to Ben Guerir and Benslimane.
Hospitals in the city of Marrakech are overlwhelmed by the growing number of coronavirus active cases. On Monday, health workers at the Ibn Zohr hospital denounced the «chaotic» situation of this hospital, while others believe that that of the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Marrakech remains «alarming».
