A footballer, tested positive for the new coronavirus (Covid-19) fled Italy to go to Morocco, without undergoing a test required by the health authorities in Bergamo to confirm his infection.

According to the local section of the Italian newspaper Corriere, the 30-year-old football player, who was in quarantine, «escaped» to his country of origin. Placed in isolation on Monday, he was to go to the city hospital to «undergo a test». An appointment for which he never showed up.

Alerted, the municipality seized the local police who went to his place, to discover that he «had long left for Genoa», where he would have «embarked on a boat for his country».

The footballer of Moroccan origin «has been denounced and risks being arrested if he returns to Italy», concludes the same source.
