As secretary general of the Justice and Development Party, Saadeddine El Othmani received, Thursday, a delegation made up of members of the National Action Group for Palestine and the Moroccan Association for the Support of the Struggle of the Palestinian people.
The meeting took place at the central headquarters of the party in Rabat and not at the residence of the head of government. For the record in December 2017, he offered a dinner in honor of the former head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, Khaled Mechaal at his place of residence.
The two Moroccan NGOs, opposed to any rapprochement with Israel, welcomed the positions expressed by El Othmani in this regard, reports PJD’s official website.
«The Secretary General welcomed this visit and reaffirmed Morocco’s position regarding the Palestinian cause. He also thanked the two bodies for their precious work in favor of Palestine», he added.
On Sunday 23 August, El Othmani announced that «the king of Morocco, the government and the Moroccan people reject any normalization with Israel». Two days later he made a U-turn, claiming he was speaking as secretary general of the PJD and not as head of government of Morocco.
