The department of epidemiology at the Health Ministry has updated the definition of suspected, probable and confirmed coronavirus cases, as well as the protocol of treating patients.

A suspected case, according to the new protocol, is that of someone who is showing signs of an acute respiratory infection, with or without fever.

A suspected case may also be suffering from unexplained fever above 38 degrees, accompanied by myalgia or headache, or a respiratory infection that requires hospitalization.

As for probable cases, they are those who had been in close contact with a suspected or confirmed case, a healthcare professional working in a hospital or a laboratory that conducts Covid-19 testing.

Probable cases are also patients with a CT image suggestive of covid-19, or someone suddenly showing symptoms of loss of taste or smell.

The ministry recommends that «the treatment should be started as soon as possible, before getting the results of antibody tests for cases having comorbidities».
