A gym owners association launched a petition, Wednesday, calling for the reopening of gyms. The NGO explained that «fitness centers are as safe as the other facilities and businesses that have been allowed to open their doors».

The step can save more than 10,000 jobs and relaunch the industry that has been struggling since the start of the pandemic, the petition argued.

The association has launched, for a few weeks, a campaign addressed to the Moroccan authorities to allow a few hundred fitness centers in the kingdom to open their doors again. It also warned against the financial situation of their owners and the risk of them shutting down.

Their closure has been going on since last March in some cities such as Fez and Tangier, and since August in Casablanca, two months opening their doors.
