The government delegation in Ceuta confirmed on Thursday that the border with Morocco will exceptionally open for the repatriation of Moroccans stranded in the city. After a first operation carried on Wednesday, a second one is expected to take place this Friday.

According to Ceutaldia, 100 Moroccans, stranded in the city since mid-March, will be allowed to return home.

The same source reports that three numbers have been set up to allow people wishing to return home to register on the list set up by the local authorities.

A press release from the government delegation, quoted by El Confidentiel indicates that «the land border between Ceuta and Morocco» will remain closed at least until October 31.

«The national police are aware that at least 900 people are still trapped in the city», the same source added, recalling that about 100 Moroccan women, including two minors, were repatriated Wednesday to their country.

The repatriation operation organized jointly by Spain and Morocco also concerns Moroccans stranded in Melilla. Yesterday, a group of nearly 200 Moroccans returned to the kingdom.
