The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) dismantled, Monday, a terrorist cell based in Tangier, arresting four suspects.

In a press release, issued earlier today, BCIJ revealed that said cell is affiliated with the «Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant» (ISIL). The cell was operating in the city of Tangier and its four members are aged between 23 and 26 years old.

During the dismantling of this cell, BCIJ members seized several bladed weapons of different sizes, electronic equipment, and documents through which the cell pledged allegiance to ISIL.

The members of this cell, who were unable to join jihadists in the Sahel, have also decided to engage in highly dangerous terrorist projects, targeting the territorial security of Morocco.

To do this, they would have planned to adopt terrorist methods inspired by the operations carried out by the group in Syria and Iraq.

This operation comes less than a month after similar interventions, organized simultaneously in the cities of Tangier, Tiflet, Témara and Skhirat, resulted in the arrest of five terrorists aged between 29 and 43 years.
