Barbadian singer, actress, and businesswoman Rihanna is under fire for using an Islamic Hadith in a runway clip for her fashion brand Fenty, Newsweek reported on Monday.
During the show for her lingerie brand Savage X Fenty, models wearing her latest collection walked the runaway on the beats of a song called «Doom». The controversial song, created by London producer Coucou Chloe, includes samples from verses of the Hadith mixed into the beat.
i feel like islamaphobia is so normalised to the point where people are calling us dramatic for being mad when our religion gets disrespected? hadith are sacred words of the prophet, they’re used to guide muslims & are second to only the Quran. rihanna should know better.

The singer was slammed on social media for her choice of the song, deemed offensive to the Muslim public.
The use of Hadith in this way was highly criticized on Twitter, especially by the Muslim community. Rihanna and her team have not responded yet to the controversy.
Coucou Chloe, however, apologized for using Hadith in her song. «I want to deeply apologize for the offence caused by the vocal samples used in my song Doom. The song was created using samples from Bail Funk tracks I found online. At the time, I was not aware that these samples used text from an Islamic Hadith», she wrote on her Instagram.
