More than 900 Moroccan workers will be sent, Friday, to Corsica, a French region, to pick clementines in an «exceptional» sanitary and diplomatic protocol, AFP wrote on Wednesday.

The 902 agricultural workers will arrive, Friday, in Corsica via five flights financed by Corsican farmers, who are relying on the operation to save the season.

These workers will be tested for Covid-19 before leaving for Corsica and after landing on the island. Seven days after their arrival, they will undergo a third Coronavirus test, the same source added.

To bring these workers, the French Office for Immigration and Integration (OFII) had to «negotiate an exceptional protocol with the Moroccan authorities so that people can move within Morocco to be able to take the flights».

The return flights of the 902 people will also be financed by local farmers, who produce between 20 and 30,000 tons of clementine each year.
