Host of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco will once again set the stage for Africa’s premier football event, having previously hosted it in 1988. At that time, the Kingdom was not chosen through a formal bidding process but rather stepped in to rescue the tournament originally awarded to Zambia, which later withdrew. Algeria, the initial favorite to take over, ultimately had its hosting rights revoked.
