A 35-year-old Moroccan man, Jamal Ait Lahcen, died in a motorcycle crash in Ocala, Florida, while returning from work. His friends and the local Moroccan community have launched a fundraising campaign to repatriate his body to Morocco and support his family.
Sentenced to death in February 2024 by a military court in Puntland, Somalia, six Moroccan detainees were acquitted on appeal. Since May of last year, the court has ordered their release and transfer to the Ministry of Justice to facilitate their repatriation, yet they remain in detention, with no resolution in sight.
