Morocco : Agreement reached at House of Reps. on lifting MP's pensions

An agreement was reached on the implementation of a series of measures for the lifting of the parliamentarians’ pensions, following a meeting at the House of Representatives.

The meeting was held Wednesday by the Speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki and the presidents of parliamentary groups, in the presence of officials of the Caisse de dépôt et de gestion (CDG/state-owned fund).

«Following the national debate on the pensions of the members of the House of Representatives and in a spirit of realism to wrap up this issue, the Speaker of the Lower House and the Presidents of the parliamentary groups agreed to begin the implementation of measures for the final lifting of this pension plan», according to a statement of the Lower House.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives and the presidents of the parliamentary groups highlighted the spirit of patriotism and continued commitment that prevailed in the consideration of this issue, the statement added, stressing the need to reach a consensus decision on this matter.
