Moroccan Foreign Minister phoned, Thursday, his Chinese counterpart to discuss the development of the Covid-19 vaccine, Chinese news agency Xinhua wrote on Friday.

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during this phone call that China and Morocco «enjoy profound friendship and solid mutual trust». He recalled the phone conversation between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Moroccan King Mohammed VI in August, which «points out the direction for and injects impetus into the development of the two countries' strategic partnership in the next stage».

Wang told Bourita that Rabat and Beijing «should continue enhancing communication, well implement the important consensus reached between the two heads of state, expand all-round mutually beneficial cooperation and promote the China-Morocco strategic partnership to achieve greater development in the post-pandemic era».

On the other hand, Nasser Bourita said that «Morocco sincerely appreciates China's strong support to Morocco's fight against the epidemic, and speaks highly of China's dispatch of medical experts to the country». He concluded by specifying that Rabat «looks forward to further strengthening cooperation with China in the fight against COVID-19».

During the Council of Ministers of October 14, King Mohammed VI asked the Minister of Health about the progress of the Covid-19 vaccine under development by China, said the spokesperson for the royal palace in a press release.

For the record, Morocco and the Chinese laboratory CNBG had concluded, on August 20 in Rabat, two cooperation agreements to conduct clinical trials of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine.
