Morocco : Attempt to smuggle 35 kg of cocaine thwarted in Tangier

Security services on Tuesday thwarted, in close coordination with the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), an attempt to smuggle 35 kg of pure cocaine from a South-American country to Asia.

This operation, carried out by policemen and customs services in the city of Tangier, is part of the relations of cooperation between Moroccan and US security services particularly in the fight against cross border crime and drug trafficking, National Police (DGSN) said in a statement.

Samples of the drug seized were taken to the National Security's forensic laboratory, while an investigation is underway the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office to determine all the ramifications of this case and identify all the people involved in these criminal activities.
