The judicial police of Casablanca seized Wednesday more than a tonne of drugs and arrested three individuals for their alleged links with a criminal network active in the trafficking of drug and psychotropic pills.
According to a press release from the National Police (DGSN), two cars were intercepted at the level of National Road No. 9, in coordination with the services of the Royal Gendarmerie.
One of the cars fled towards the district of Sidi Bernoussi where it was immobilized and its two passengers arrested, the police said.
The driver of the second car refused to comply and fled at high speed and was stopped in a suburban district of Casablanca after causing a traffic accident and property damage, the statement added.
The search operations carried out resulted in the seizure of one ton and 40 kilograms of cannabis resin.
Knives, five doses of cocaine, 29 tablets of ecstasy, as well as six fake license plates and a sum of money suspected to be originated from this criminal activity were found at the homes of the arrested individuals, the police said.
The suspects, aged 26 to 27, were placed in police custody at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office in order to determine the possible ramifications of this criminal activity and all the charges held against the individuals arrested.
