Morocco has not recorded, for the moment, any case of the new variant of Covid-19 according to the samples tested, Health Minister Khalid Ait Taleb said on Tuesday.
«No case of the new variant of Covid-19 has been identified in Morocco according to a series of tests carried out by the Institut Pasteur», the minister told Le360.
Last week, British authorities announced that they had identified two cases of a new strain of the coronavirus.
A discovery that came a few days after that of another new variant, which the British health authorities consider to be more contagious. Several countries have already been affected by this new variant, such as Spain and France, among others.
Khalid Ait Taleb also described as «stable» the situation of Covid-19 in Morocco. «We hope to further stabilize the situation, or even reduce the spread more in order to make the vaccination campaign more successful», he added.
Moreover, when asked about the vaccination campaign, the Health Minister assured that the authorities were making all possible efforts to launch the vaccination campaign as soon as possible.
