Morocco heatwave alert as temperatures reach 47C

A heatwave and hot weather are expected from Sunday to Tuesday in several Moroccan provinces, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) stated in an orange-level weather alert bulletin.

The heatwave, with temperatures ranging between 44 and 47°C, is expected to affect the provinces of Zagora, Tata, and Assa-Zag from Sunday to Tuesday.

Hot weather, with temperatures between 42 and 44°C, is also forecast for Monday in the provinces of Settat, El Kelaa Des Sraghna, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknes, Khenifra, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, and Khouribga.

The same conditions are also expected from Monday to Tuesday, with temperatures ranging from 42 to 44°C in the provinces of Khemisset, Fez, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Ouezzane, and Sefrou.

With temperatures expected to range between 39 and 42°C, hot weather is also forecast for Monday in the provinces of Kenitra and Larache.
