The prefectural service of the Kenitra judicial police on Monday thwarted, on the basis of precise information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, a drug-trafficking operation of 1.12 ton of cannabis resin aboard an international freight transport truck.
The vehicle, coming from a city in the north of the Kingdom, was intercepted at the entrance of the city of Kenitra, National Police (DGSN) said in a statement, adding that policemen have found on board the truck 36 packages weighing a total of one ton and 120 kilograms of cannabis resin.
The driver, a 47-year-old man, was placed on custody pending the end of investigations conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, the source pointed out.
Investigations are underway to arrest all the people involved in these criminal activities.
