Morocco records first case of Covid-19 British variant

Morocco’s health authorities announced on Monday evening that they had recorded the first confirmed case of the coronavirus strain recently discovered in the United Kingdom. A statement from the Ministry of Health, sent to Yabiladi, indicates that the case was detected at the port of Tanger Med, when a Moroccan coming from Ireland, arrived by boat via the port of Marseille.

The ministry reports that the patient, who is asymptomatic, is currently in medical isolation in Casablanca.

The department recalls that sets of procedures and measures have been adopted for the early detection and the identification of cases of Covid-19 variants. Case management measures have also been updated based on the national and global epidemiological situation.
