Spain’s ambassador to Rabat Ricardo Díez-Hochleitner was summoned, Wednesday, by the Moroccan Governmnet over a violent intervention of police against a Moroccan migrant at a minor reception center in Tafira, Las Palmas.
Morocco expressed concern over this intervention which was filmed and posted to social media, well-informed sources told Spanish news agency EFE.
According to Canarian media, the video was shot after police were called to intervene as a minor was threatening several employees at a reception center in Tindaya.
Media, citing police sources, indicate that upon the arrival of the police, the minor was on the ground "pretending" to be unconscious.
In 2020 only, the Canary Islands saw the arrival of 23,000 migrants, more than half of them came from from Morocco.
