Civil Guard disperses protest by Moroccan migrants in the Canary Islands

The Civil Guard dispersed an unauthorized protest led by Moroccan migrants in Gran Canaria on Saturday. The protest took place at 2:00 pm on the Avenida Roque de los Muchachos in Puerto Rico, Spanish radio Cadena COPE reported.

«A group of about thirty people were carrying banners», demanding a «solution for immigrants» and asked to be transferred to Spain, instead of being deported to Morocco. The protest was dispersed, as it was not authorized.

The police have identified two people believed to have organized the event. They «will be prosecuted for having held an unauthorized demonstration», the same source concluded.
