Governor of the Tangier region visits the families of the textile factory victims

The wali (governor) of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region and governor of the Tangier-Assilah prefecture, Mohamed Mhidia visited, Tuesday, the families of the 28 victims who died in the flooding of an illegal textile factory in Tangier. 

The wali was seen in a number of districts of Tangier, such as Magogha, Bni Makada and Masnana, offering his condolences to the families of the victims, Tanja 24 reports.

The same source recalls that the wali of the region had postponed a meeting scheduled for Monday at the prefecture of Fnideq and supervised the rescue operations of the victims of said factory located in the Branes district in Tangier.

28 workers were killed, Monday, while 18 others were injured after the heavy rains flooded the basement of a villa in Tangier, used as a clandestine textile plant. The victims include men and women aged between 20 and 40.

Following the tragedy, the local authorities announced the opening of an investigation to shed light on the circumstances of the incident and determine the responsibilities.
