The short film «So What if the Goats Die» by Sofia Alaoui is nominated at the 46th Cesars Awards Ceremony, organized by the «Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma» on March 12 in Paris, according to the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM).
«So What if the Goats Die» continues to shine at the big international film festivals, the CCM said in a press release, stressing that after its release in 2019, this short film participated in the international competition of the Sundance Festival (US, January-February 2020), winning the Grand Jury Prize of this «prestigious festival considered to be one of the major events of independent cinema in the world».
The film also took part in the official competition of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (February 2020), the biggest short film meeting in the world, before participating in the National Film Festival of Tangier (February-March 2020), then at the Sao Paolo International Short Film Festival (August 2020) and at the Namur International Francophone Film Festival (October 2020).
Produced by Jiango Films company, with the support of the CCM, «So What if the Goats Die» tells in the Amazigh language the story of Abdellah, a young shepherd and his father, who witness the death of their animals in the high Atlas Mountains.
Abdellah must therefore go to a nearby village for supplies, before realizing that it has been deserted due to a mysterious event.
