Morocco suspends flights to and from Turkey, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany

The Moroccan authorities decided, Monday, to suspend flights to and from Turkey, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany, starting from February 22 at midnight. The decision will be reviewed in two weeks.


The official page of the Turkish Embassy in Rabat indicated that this decision comes «as part of the fight against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and the criteria of the Ministry of Health of Morocco».


Meanwhile, the Swiss Ambassador to Morocco, Guillaume Scheurer said on his Twitter account that «all flights from and to Switzerland to and from Morocco are temporarily suspended». «This decision will be reviewed every two weeks», he added.


Since January 19, access to Morocco has been suspended for planes and passengers from Australia, Brazil, Ireland and New Zealand. A list that also includes South Africa, Denmark and the United Kingdom.

On the weekend, the Ministry of Health announced the detection of 21 strains of the new UK variant. Thus, the total number of cases of this variant amounts to 24 strains detected to date.
