The judicial police in the city of El Kelaa des Sraghna opened, on Wednesday, a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, into the case of two police officers, respectively a senior peace officer and a peace officer, for their alleged involvement in a bribery case.

A press release from the National Police (DGSN) said that the security services had opened an investigation into a complaint filed by an individual involved in a car accident while intoxicated, in which he claims that the said officers asked him for a sum of money in return for intervening in his favor in the accident, adding that these facts required the opening of a meticulous investigation which resulted in the arrest of the two suspects red-handed while receiving a sum of money as a bribe.

The two police officers were taken into custody for the investigation to shed light on the ins and outs of these criminal acts, the statement noted.

The DGSN has decided to temporarily suspend the two police officers, pending the outcome of the legal proceedings, in order to take the necessary disciplinary measures, the statement concluded.
