Police seized, Sunday, 4.9 tons of chira during an operation carried out in Aït Melloul as part of the investigations undertaken by the judicial police of Kénitra, in coordination with the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), following the dismantling in Kenitra of an international drug trafficking network and the seizure of eight tonnes and 902 kilograms of chira.
Searches carried out in a warehouse in the industrial zone of Aït Melloul near Agadir led to the seizure of 4.9 additional tons of drug intended for international trafficking, carefully packed in metal tanks carried by trucks parked in one of the industrial units, said a press release from the National Police (DGSN), adding that the total quantity of the drugs seized since the dismantling of this international drug trafficking network thus amounts to 13 tonnes and 802 kilograms.
The investigations carried out by the judicial police of Kénitra are continuing under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, in order to determine the possible ramifications of this criminal network and to arrest other alleged accomplices, concluded the press release.
