Policemen on Tuesday seized 6,503 kilograms of cannabis resin and arrested five people for their alleged links to an international drug trafficking network.

This operation was carried out simultaneously in different areas, National Police (DGSN) said in a release, adding that the suspects were arrested in Tan-Tan, while the drug was seized in several warehouses in the region of Ras Amlil, some 65 kilometers from Tan-Tan.

Search operations led to the seizure of large sums of money, three inflatable boats, seven all-terrain vehicles, five fake license plates and a shotgun, according to the same source.

Three suspects were placed on custody under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, while two others are the subject of a judicial investigation in order to determine the level of their involvement in this affair and identify the potential ramifications of this criminal network at the national and international level.

This operation is part of efforts made by national security services to fight against drug trafficking.
