Moroccan international Yassine Bounou is one of the three finalists for The Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper Award 2023, alongside Thibaut Courtois (Belgium – Real Madrid CF) and Ederson (Brazil – Manchester City FC), announced the International Football Federation (FIFA) on Tuesday.

The three goalkeepers nominated for this award were selected based on their performances from the period of 19 December 2022 to 20 August 2023, FIFA said in a press release, noting that the the winner winner will be revealed at a London ceremony on 15 January 2024.

«Bounou returned from his FIFA World Cup heroics with Morocco and slotted straight back into domestic action with Sevilla, helping them lift the UEFA Europa League trophy for a seventh time. Having broken Spanish hearts during the Atlas Lions’ Round of 16 success on penalties in Qatar, Bounou was this time the hero of the nation's supporters, keeping out efforts from Roger Ibanez and Gianluca Mancini as Sevilla defeat Roma 4-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw over 120 tense minutes».
