The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has lodged a formal complaint against Algerian coach Adel Amrouche, currently managing the Tanzanian national team, a source within the FRMF confirmed to Yabiladi on Thursday.

This action stems from Amrouche's public accusations that Morocco exerted undue influence on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to favor the Atlas Lions.

«Tanzania national team coach Adel Amrouche appeared before the CAF Disciplinary Committee today regarding his previous accusations against the FRMF», the source revealed.

Prior to the Tanzania-Morocco match, Amrouche told Algerian media: «We recognize Morocco's strength, they're an African power. But our request for a 2 pm kickoff was ignored, forcing us to play at night. It seems in African football, certain powers wield influence...and we have to compete not only against great teams but apparently, unseen factors as well».

He further alleged, «While on-field performance determines the outcome, and our World Cup qualifying loss to Morocco doesn't define us, playing late against referees potentially swayed by Moroccan influence raises concerns».

Amrouche's claims denounced by Tanzanian football body

Tanzanian Football Federation President Wallace Karia swiftly distanced the organization from Amrouche's claims. In a statement to Tanzanian media, Karia declared, «We categorically do not support our coach Adel Amrouche's statement. We respect Morocco's commitment to football development and will address Coach Amrouche's reckless and provocative remarks accordingly».

During the pre-match press conference, Moroccan coach Walid Regragui opted not to engage with Amrouche's accusations, stating, «His statements hold no weight with me. We won't waste time on such matters. Our focus is solely on football. We leave matters outside the game to officials and the Federation».

It's worth noting that Morocco secured a decisive 3-0 victory over Tanzania, placing them atop Group F. The other group match saw DR Congo and Zambia play to a 1-1 draw.
