The Interior Ministers of Morocco and Spain, Abdelouafi Laftit and Fernando Grande Marlaska, declared Friday in Rabat their commitment to «enhancing the positive and committed dynamic» between the two countries, aiming to elevate their «exemplary partnership» further.

«This partnership is exemplary in more ways than one and is a benchmark for bilateral cooperation», lauded the Moroccan Interior Ministry in a press release following the ministers' talks.

Laftit and Marlaska lauded the exceptional partnership, forged by the «unprecedented dynamic» in bilateral relations since the roadmap adopted by King Mohammed VI and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in April 2022. This roadmap, outlined in the press release, emphasizes strong, multidimensional cooperation in security and migration, fueled by trust and shared challenges.

The two parties further agreed to intensify operational coordination and streamline information exchange to better anticipate threats like terrorism and criminal trafficking networks, specifically focusing on migrant and human trafficking.

Laftit highlighted Morocco's significant contributions and ongoing efforts in combating terrorism, border control, and various cross-border crimes, demonstrating the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to regional security.

Both ministers also emphasized the strategic importance and regional benefit of triangular cooperation with partner countries in the South through initiatives like cross-training, capacity-building, and technical support.
