The Moroccan Embassy in Ivory Coast has established a temporary mobile consulate in San Pedro, the coastal city hosting the Atlas Lions' matches during the 2023 African Cup of Nations (CAN). This dedicated facility aims to assist Moroccan football fans who have traveled to San Pedro to cheer on their team, as reported by 2M.

In a statement, Salah Zeroual El Idrissi, Morocco's deputy ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire, emphasized the mobile consulate's link to King Mohammed VI's concern for both Moroccans abroad and football enthusiasts: «The deployment of this mobile consulate reflects King Mohammed VI's dedication to supporting Moroccans residing abroad and all football fans».

To ensure continuous and efficient service, the consular team has been strengthened with eight additional members. According to El Idrissi, the majority of requests handled at the mobile unit are administrative in nature, particularly concerning consular passes for supporters returning home who may have lost documents.

He further explained that this initiative aligns with the directives of Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, who prioritized providing necessary assistance to Moroccan citizens traveling to San Pedro to support their national team during this prestigious continental competition.
