A source within the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) revealed that the FRMF received a letter from the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA) following the decision of the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to overturn the previous punishment imposed by the CAF Executive Committee on Moroccan national team coach Walid Regragui.

The source confirmed that the FECOFA letter emphasized «the close relationship that unites the two parties for the development of football in the two brotherly countries». It also expressed respect for «the final decision of the Appeals Committee», considering the matter «closed».

For the record, FECOFA announced on Monday its intention to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the reinstatement of Moroccan coach Walid Regragui.

This comes after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeals Committee overturned Regragui's four-match suspension and $5,000 fine for an altercation with DR Congo captain Chancel Mbemba at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023).

Originally, FECOFA had protested against Regragui's supposed «behavior», while the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) appealed the suspension. CAF subsequently canceled the sanctions, deeming Regragui's actions non-violations of fair play.
