Elements of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) responsible for coastal surveillance intercepted a canoe 10km south of Dakhla, Morocco, on Thursday. The vessel, carrying 104 individuals attempting irregular migration to the Canary Islands, was stopped.
Authorities identified the passengers as 90 Malians, 7 Mauritanians, 3 Senegalese, 2 Ivorians, and 2 Guineans. After receiving necessary care, they were handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for standard administrative procedures, according to a Friday press release by the FAR general staff.
