Morocco's foreign currency travel receipts hit a record high of 105 billion dirhams in 2023, marking a 12% increase compared to the previous year, the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy announced.

«Following the record-breaking arrival of 14.5 million tourists in 2023, travel receipts in foreign currency have also reached their all-time peak of 105 billion dirhams, representing a 12% growth compared to 2022. This confirms the exceptional momentum of tourism in 2023», the ministry stated in a press release.

«Surpassing the 100-billion-dirham mark in 2023 further solidifies tourism's position as one of the leading sources of foreign exchange earnings for our country», said Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor, according to the release.

«This achievement aligns perfectly with the roadmap's goal of reaching 120 billion dirhams by 2026. We remain committed to diversifying Morocco's tourism offerings, which will significantly contribute to increasing foreign tourist spending», she added.
