Following royal instructions, the Lieutenant General, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), met on Tuesday in Rabat with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for African Affairs, Jennifer Zakriski, at the FAR headquarters. The meeting focused on strengthening military cooperation between Morocco and the United States.
Both parties commended the «intense, frequent, and regular» collaborative activities between the FAR and US Armed Forces, underscoring their «excellent» military relations. The FAR Inspector General emphasized the deep historical roots of this partnership, citing the 1786 Treaty of Peace and Friendship as a foundation for this «age-old» alliance.
Discussions covered various aspects of military cooperation, including collaboration in the defense industry, acquisition of equipment with technical and logistical support, training and technology transfer and disaster management partnerships.
The meeting also addressed the FAR's role in promoting regional peace and security through peacekeeping operations, as guided by the King's directives.
Reiterating their commitment to building an «exemplary strategic partnership» by 2030, both sides highlighted the importance of existing agreements and initiatives like the 2020-2030 Roadmap. This plan encompasses strategic dialogue, joint training exercises, the Utah State National Guard partnership, and financial and equipment support.
