On Wednesday evening, members of the Judicial Police in the Settat Security Province, collaborating with the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance, intercepted a large-scale drug smuggling attempt and arrested a suspect.

Authorities apprehended a 30-year-old individual in a village near Berrechid, suspected of belonging to a drug trafficking network. Investigation led to the discovery of a hidden shipment in a utility vehicle with forged license plates, containing 103 packages of the drug Chira totaling 3.826 tons.

Further search also yielded cocaine doses, a second vehicle, and counterfeit license plates. The suspect was found to have outstanding warrants related to drug trafficking and attempted murder issued by authorities in various Moroccan cities.

He is currently detained while the investigation, supervised by the Public Prosecution, seeks to identify accomplices and uncover further activities of this criminal network.
