French Foreign Minister, Stéphane Séjourné, will meet his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, in Rabat this Monday, February 26th. According to a diplomatic source who spoke to AFP on Sunday, their discussions «will continue over a working lunch». The source emphasized, «This visit represents a significant step towards opening a new chapter in relations between our two countries».
Séjourné's trip marks the culmination of a public outreach process he initiated with messages to Morocco expressing his commitment to «writing a new chapter» in French-Moroccan relations. «There's a will», he stressed to French deputies last week, «I've rekindled the link with Morocco. Misunderstandings created difficulties, but our ties with Morocco are highly important, even essential».
In Rabat, Séjourné is expected to revive discussions with Bourita regarding President Emmanuel Macron's planned visit to the kingdom, as reported by Africa Intelligence.
