Princess Lalla Asmae and the First Lady of Côte d'Ivoire, Dominique Ouattara, launched a newborn hearing screening program in the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region on Wednesday at the Moulay Youssef Hospital Center maternity ward.
This continental initiative aims to diagnose and treat hearing problems in newborns. Treatment options include cochlear implants and speech therapy. Additionally, the program fosters collaboration between Moroccan doctors and their counterparts in other African countries.
Following the launch, Princess Lalla Asmae and Mrs. Ouattara visited children who underwent ear surgeries the day before. They also observed a speech therapy session and a dissection course for African ENT doctors.
The ceremony concluded with the signing of three agreements between the Lalla Asmae Foundation and key partners: Royal Air Maroc (national airline), Bank of Africa, and the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health. These agreements will provide logistical, financial, and scientific support for the program.
Upon arrival at the hospital, Princess Lalla Asmae and Mrs. Ouattara were greeted by Moroccan government ministers, ambassadors from several African nations, and representatives from Lions International, an international service organization.
This revised version shortens the bulleted lists of dignitaries while still conveying their importance. It also clarifies the purpose of the signed agreements.
