On Thursday, a Royal Navy coastal surveillance unit intercepted a boat approximately 33 kilometers off the southwest coast of Tarfaya. The vessel was carrying 52 migrants, including 5 women, from sub-Saharan African countries who were headed for the Canary Islands.

A report from the General Command of the Royal Armed Forces stated that the rescued people received first aid before being safely transported to the port of Tarfaya and handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for processing under current administrative procedures.
