Moroccan national football team coach Walid Regragui said on Monday in Agadir that the friendlies against Angola and Mauritania aim to gain experience against teams with strong defenses.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Mauritania match, scheduled for Tuesday, Regragui called these games an opportunity for the Atlas Lions to find solutions against African teams known for their defensive tactics. He added that similar matches are planned for the future.
The coach emphasized avoiding injuries and maximizing every opportunity. He stressed the technical staff's efforts to create cohesion between new and experienced players.
Regragui explained his strategy of gradually integrating new players while maintaining the team's core. He seeks to evaluate all players, even if time constraints limit opportunities.
He also highlighted the need for confidence and support for the offensive line to perform at its best. The technical staff is also working on improving set-piece execution, especially in more tactical games.
Regragui expressed satisfaction with the new players' contributions and the added value they bring. He noted that the current squad includes players with the potential to participate in next summer's Paris Olympics.
He concluded by reiterating that the national team door remains open to all outstanding players.
Regarding the Mauritania game, Regragui confirmed that «all the players are healthy and ready». The match will be played on Tuesday at 10:00 PM at the Grand Stadium in Agadir.
