The partnership between Morocco and the European Union is «more crucial than ever in the current geopolitical context», said EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
The strengthening of this strategic partnership was the focus of a meeting on Wednesday between Borrell and Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates.
«We discussed how to give new impetus to the EU-Morocco partnership, which is more crucial than ever in the current geopolitical context», said the EU senior official on his X account on Thursday.
Bourita and Borrell also discussed several bilateral and regional issues.
A benchmark in the EU's neighborhood policy, Rabat and Brussels are linked by a strategic partnership built on a solid foundation of shared values and vision.
Morocco and the EU launched the «Euro-Moroccan Partnership for Shared Prosperity» on June 27, 2019, in Brussels. This statutory framework governs bilateral relations centered around four structuring areas: convergence of values, economic convergence and social cohesion, shared knowledge, political concertation and increased cooperation on security matters
The framework also includes two fundamental horizontal areas that will be the subject of specific operational actions: Cooperation on the environment and the fight against climate change and cooperation on mobility and migration.
