Morocco's ambassador to Italy, Youssef Balla, received Michele Marsiglia, President of FederPetroli Italia, at the Moroccan embassy in Rome, according to Italian media reports on Monday.

Marsiglia, in a message to Ambassador Balla, expressed the Italian energy industry's close ties with Morocco, particularly «in the aftermath of the strong earthquake that affected the North African country last year».

Their discussions focused on Morocco's contributions to energy transition policies. The Kingdom is opening its investments to various forms of renewable energy, green hydrogen, and even traditional fossil fuels, reads the same Marsiglia’s note to the Moroccan diplomat.

The meeting also addressed strengthening bilateral trade and industrial relations between the two countries, with a focus on attracting companies interested in Moroccan projects.

Marsiglia and Ambassador Balla also exchanged views on the global energy scene, particularly regarding the delicate situation in the Middle East and upcoming scenarios in the Mediterranean.
