Morocco makes its debut as a guest of honor at the Salon gourmets de Madrid, held April 22-25, 2024, in the Spanish capital. This major event, considered Europe's largest trade show for gourmet and delicatessen products, provides a prime platform to showcase Moroccan gastronomy and bolster its high-end offerings on the international stage.

A 348 sqm Moroccan pavilion will spotlight the country's culinary expertise, rich dishes, and diverse culinary repertoire. 15 exhibitors representing the «fish, olive, processed, and local produce sectors» will participate.

This participation reflects efforts to strengthen positive trends in the agri-food sector between the two kingdoms. The aim is to promote Morocco's premium, high value-added products and encourage their expansion in European markets.

Bilateral trade in the agri-food sector between Morocco and Spain shows steady growth. The press release highlights that «in 2023, the value of Moroccan exports to Spain reached DHS 18.6 billion, representing 25% of Morocco's total exports in this sector».

In terms of volume, Moroccan agri-food exports to Spain totaled 661.2 KT in 2023. Processed agricultural products saw a 7% increase compared to 2021, reaching 130 KT. «Seafood products also experienced significant growth of 19% (compared to 2022) with a volume reaching 163.1 KT», the press release adds.

Founded over 35 years ago, the Madrid Gourmet Fair is a benchmark in the food industry, offering «a privileged platform for exploring the latest trends and innovations in the sector».
